High Performance Computing and Quantum Computing 2023
This year, as every year since 2018, CINECA and the University of Milan have once again organised the now customary “High Performance Computing and Quantum Computing” workshop.
Now in its sixth edition, HPCQC has always been dedicated to the dissemination of the latest achievements at European level in the field of quantum computing and HPC. Speakers are selected from leading figures in academia and industry.
This year’s event consisted of four sessions, with a broad overview of the European and Italian environment, with a look at the various Italian and European initiatives revolving around the world of quantum computing. The practical side, i.e. the construction of a quantum computer, was also discussed, with the big names of the computer industry taking the floor, with the participation of IBM, D-Wave and Pasqal.
The third session was dedicated to the exploration of hybrid HPC-QC softwares, with presentations from major software start-ups such as Eviden, NVIDIA, Qperfetc and SeeQC.
Finally, the fourth session took up the entire second day and was dedicated to universities and research centres, where academics discussed how the application of quantum technologies can bring innovation to the research process.
