The workshop on Advances in Quantum Coding Theory is organized by the Simons Institute at the University of California, Berkeley and will be held February 12-16 at the Calvin Lab.

This is a joint workshop between the Error-Correcting Codes: Theory and Practice program and the Quantum Algorithms, Complexity, and Fault Tolerance program.

There has been a burst of recent progress on quantum error correcting codes, across the physics, computer science, and math communities.
This workshop will bring together researchers from all of these communities to share recent progress and exchange ideas. Particular topics covered will include constructions of quantum LDPC (Low Density Parity Check) codes and new algorithms for quantum codes.

Established on July 1, 2012 with a grant from the Simons Foundation, the Simons Institute for the Theory of Computing is based in the Calvin Lab, a dedicated building on the UC Berkeley campus. The Institute brings together the world’s leading researchers in theoretical computer science and related fields, as well as the next generation of outstanding young scholars, to explore deep unsolved questions about the nature and limits of computation.

The Institute’s mission is to promote fundamental research on the foundations of computer science and to broaden the horizons of the field by exploring other scientific disciplines through the lens of computation.
