Quantum Simulation Conference 2023

07/08/2023 @ 08:00 - 11/08/2023 @ 17:00

The 2023 edition of the Quantum Simulation Conference (QSim) will take place August 7-11 at the Telluride Conference Center, Colorado.

Recent experimental advances in controlling quantum coherence present new opportunities to realize quantum simulation of complex quantum many-body systems. Quantum simulators based on a variety of architectures, including ultracold atoms and molecules in optical lattices, trapped ions, Rydberg gases, isolated spins in solids, and superconducting circuits, proffer rich playgrounds for Hamiltonian engineering and time-dependent control of many-body quantum systems. Many of these systems can routinely achieve parameter regimes and sizes that are seemingly intractable to simulate on a classical computer.

The QSim is an international annual conference on quantum simulation that aims to bridge theory and experiment, bringing together physicists, engineers, chemists, material scientists, mathematicians, and computer scientists working at the forefront of quantum simulation and related problems that include applications, algorithms, verification, noise, scaling, etc. for both analog and digital approaches. A special session midweek will be devoted to charting the future of the field. We hope that this conference will stimulate interactions across disciplines and unveil new connections between seemingly disparate aspects of physics.

Submissions are invited for contributed talks and posters at the conference. Talks will be selected on the basis of scientific excellence, fit to the conference, and balance of the program.

All submissions should be made online at https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=qsim2023

Areas of interest for the QSim include, but are not restricted to:

  • Platforms for quantum simulation
  • Applications of quantum simulation
  • Scaling up quantum simulators
  • Quantum error correction, mitigation, and fault-tolerance in quantum simulation
  • Verification of quantum simulation
  • Verification of quantum simulation
  • Near-term quantum simulation algorithms
  • Tomography of quantum many-body systems
  • Many-body physics in quantum simulators
  • Proofs of quantumness

Important dates:

Contributed talk submission deadline: 24th of March 2023
Decision notification: 12th of May 2023
Poster submission deadline: 10th of July 2023

Before the event, a Summer School is scheduled for August 3-5, where a series of lectures will be given by experts in the field on a variety of quantum simulation topics, including experimental platforms, analog or NISQ approaches, and future fault-tolerant strategies. This summer school is structured to provide PhD students and postdocs working in a quantum field with a solid background on quantum simulation.

The conference is sponsored by the NSF Quantum Leap Challenge Institute for Robust Quantum Simulation. (https://rqs.umd.edu/)
