2023 Quantum Computing User Forum

17/07/2023 @ 08:00 - 20/07/2023 @ 18:00

OAK

The Quantum Computing User Forum brings together users to discuss common practices in developing applications, software and simulations for quantum computing devices and systems.

Participants in the event include leading companies in the field of quantum computing such as IBM, Quantinuum, IonQ, Rigetti and NVIDIA.

Hosted by the Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the meeting, scheduled for July 17-20 2023, will feature invited presentations by leading researchers in the field.

In addition, three workshops will be held during the Forum: on July 17 by IBM and on July 20 by Quantinuum and NVIDIA.

The Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility was established at Oak Ridge National Laboratory to accelerate scientific discovery and engineering progress by providing world-leading computing performance and an advanced data infrastructure.

Oak Ridge National Laboratory is managed by UT-Battelle for the Department of Energy. ORNL scientists and engineers conduct basic and applied research and development to create scientific knowledge and technological solutions that strengthen the nation’s leadership in key scientific areas, increase the availability of clean and abundant energy, restore and protect the environment, and contribute to national security.

The OLCF houses two of the world’s fastest supercomputers, the IBM Summit AC922 and the Frontier HPE-Cray EX, supported by world-class data management and analysis tools. In May 2022, the OLCF unveiled Frontier as the world’s first exascale supercomputer, reaching 1,102 exaflops. In May 2023, performance was upgraded to 1.194 exaflops, making it No. 1 on the TOP500 list and faster than the next four supercomputers combined. OLCF’s Summit supercomputer, a 200 peftaflops system, debuted in June 2018. In May 2023 Summit was still in the top 5 fastest supercomputers in the world, specifically in fifth place, ahead of the Leonardo supercomputer, operated by CINECA.
